When did chick flicks get so bad? I saw the worst romantic comedy EVER this weekend. It's called "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past". You know the one? When did romantic comedies start ramming monogamy and marriage down our throats without even the least bit of nuanced humour? The moral of this story is, if you don't want to get married, you're broken. Oh, and you'll be able to identify the one, because she'll make you wait six weeks before sleeping with you. That's love, witholding sex. What happened to movies like Four Weddings and a Funeral? A film that showed you sometimes people who don't get married almost have more love in their lives? Or that formal marriage is NOT the be all and end all? That weddings are a big deal but they're not the only way to make yourself happy?

I've decided I must start writing a romantic comedy at onc. There is room in the market for features that don't make people gag or act as though compulsory heterosexuality and matrimony are, like, the best things ever....
